Diabetes Studies

Origin Study
We are looking for patients have had:

  • Previous heart attack or stroke
  • Previous cardiac procedure (angioplasty or bypass surgery)
  • History of peripheral vascular disease

Patients who have one of these conditions will be tested to see if they have diabetes or prediabetes by performing a glucose tolerance test.  Patients with known diabetes may also qualify.   Eligible patients will be randomly assigned to receive usual care by their regular physician, or to receive glucose lowering treatment with Lantus insulin, a long-acting insulin.  To inquire about the study, call Eileen Pelayo RN, at 202-784-3587.
