PGY-1 ward months occur at Georgetown University Hospital
(GUH), Virginia Hospital Center (VHC), and the Washington DC VA Medical
Center (VAMC)
PGY-1 critical care months occur at the GUH ICU, WHC CCU,
Fairfax CCU, and
ARL ICU/CCU
Emergency Medicine and Day Float/Night Float occur at GUH
General Internal Medicine occurs at the GUH Internal Medicine
Clinic
Electives (50% inpatient and 50% outpatient) can be done
within any medical subspecialty, neurology, dermatology at GUH or
the VAMC, with other Departments (with approval), or away (1 month per
year)
Interns may pursue a cardiology elective at GUH or at the
Washington Hospital Center (WHC)
The elective month can also be used as a research month.

PGY-2s and PGY-3s complete ward months in the above
locations as well as Fairfax Hospital (FFX) and the National Institutes
of Health and National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases
(NIH/NIAID)
Critical Care months may be completed at the FFX ICU or CCU
in addition to the sites mentioned above
PGY-2s and PGY-3s are required to complete a medicine
consult month once during those two years (50% inpatient and 50%
outpatient)
Day Float/Night Float can be at GUH or the VAMC
Geriatrics is split between GUH, VAMC, and the Washington
Home (a local Nursing Home run by a GU faculty member).
Primary Care Rotation month is an optional elective for
PGY-2s or PGY-3s
PGY-2s and PGY-3s may pursue the electives mentioned above
as well as research or away electives
** ALL interns and residents will have a consecutive
six-day break during the Christmas / New Years time frame (either
Christmas week or New Years week) **
