Housing and Parking

HOUSING

There are lots of options to choose from when it comes to housing within the DC-metropolitan area!

If you want to be equidistant to all the hospitals, we would recommend Arlington, Georgetown, or Glover Park (just north of Georgetown).

Rosslyn (a neighborhood in Arlington just across the Potomac River from Georgetown) and Georgetown are very convenient to the hospital. These neighborhoods can often have higher rents than other neighborhoods in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. You may be able to find cheaper rent prices along Columbia Pike in Arlington or the Adams Morgan, Brookland, and Columbia Heights areas in DC.

We have developed a Google map to help orient you to the area. Included in the map are the various hospital sites, popular neighborhoods, and places of interest.

A few notes to consider:

  • If it seems too good to be true (sunny, central HVAC, dishwasher, washer/dryer in unit, furnished studio with reserved, covered parking and all utilities included for $900/mo in Georgetown) then it probably is and/or you need to be very careful about who you are dealing with.
  • Be persistent and don’t get discouraged – May/June is when all of the political interns come to DC and they need places to live too. The really good apartment/room listings on craigslist will get 100s, if not 1000s, of responses.
  • Padmapper, The Washington Post, and The Washington City Paper are good resources.

Any roommate requests/housing opportunities our office receives will be posted here.

Housing/Apartment Availability

Need a letter verifying employment or salary?

Your new landlord or management company may ask for a letter verifying your position with the Hospital and/or your salary. Please send those requests to Caitlin Erchick and include the contact person’s name and email address or fax number that the letter can be sent to.

PARKING

Parking at Georgetown and our affiliate hospitals is free for all house staff. Please be aware that parking can be limited at Georgeotwn depending on what time you arrive at the hospital. You will always have a parking space, however the later you arrive in the morning, the more likely it is that the parking staff may have to valet your car (for free).
