- PGY-1 ward months occur at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH), Virginia Hospital Center (VHC) and the Washington DC VA Medical Center (VAMC).
- PGY-1 critical care months occur at the MGUH ICU, MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) CCU, Fairfax Hospital (FFX) CCU and VHC ICU/CCU.
- Night Float occurs at MGUH.
- Emergency Medicine occurs at MGUH and FFX.
- We have a 4+2+2 block structure for our Categorical interns and residents consisting of 4 weeks of wards/critical care/consult/elective, 2 weeks of elective, and 2 weeks of clinic block.
- During ward and critical care rotations, there is no continuity clinic. This novel separation of inpatient and outpatient duties enhances resident satisfaction and provides a dedicated ambulatory experience.
- Preliminary interns do not have clinic block; they have additional elective time.
- The elective month can be utilized as a research or health policy month as well.
