During my PGY-2 year, I was able to rotate through Katatura State Hospital in Windhoek. Namibia. The primarily teaching role afforded me the opportunity to work with medical students and residents and witness a side of healthcare often not seen in the US. Learning medicine in a resource-constrained setting always puts into perspective the care you are used to delivering, and it’s a privilege to be able to learn medicine in such a contrasting environment. The clinicians are some of the best I’ve worked with and the reliance on physical exam and other objective data made me realize how much I take for granted many of the resources we have available to us in the USA.
